Root Barrier
What Is It?

When trees are planted near a foundation, extensive root systems can developed which extract large quantities of moisture from the soil, and transport them into the atmosphere. Two adverse conditions can develop. Large surface areas adjacent to and beneath the foundation can subside several inches and foundation support is lost. Also, tree roots will grow under the slab and will extract moisture in an uneven manner. When the summer is dry, trees obviously make a bad situation worse because they will need more soil moisture to survive.

A Root Barrier can prevent roots from crawling under the foundation of your house or cracking your driveway or sidewalk. If you have seen evidence of this type of damage, please call Quality Tree Specialist for a free estimate. We can explain how a Root Barrier works and the most affordable treatment options for your needs.
